Scott's Men

This is a very comprehensive book which seeks the deeper personalities of those involved with Scott's expeditions. It raises some very interesting points about Scott's biased friendships and hints at the fact that Scott was probably forced to go on the Terra Nova expedition. It compares Scott's journey with Amundsen and scorns the British 'good old manhauling' style. The analysis of the expedition is well thought out and all the key players get a mention. I particularly liked the references left out in the official 'Last Expedition' that were used to show what Scott thought of those with him. Published 1977 Allen Lane
