For Adult Sailors we offer a complete programme of courses from learning to sail right through to racing and performance sailing. If you’ve done some sailing before but just need a hand to get going again then we run a ‘Back on the Water’ clinic, which does what it says on the tin!
Members are encourage to attend our on-shore sessions for Sailwave, Racing Rules and First Aid.
All our Instructors, Committee Members, Duty Crews are volunteers
As you progress through your sailing career you to will have opportunities to become Instructors (Assistant, Dinghy and Powerboat).
As a member of HSC you also have access to the Powerboat 2 and Safety Boat qualifications, which help keep our members safe on the water.
Junior sailors follow the RYA Stage 1-4 Training Scheme, and quickly get into racing. Apart from the certified courses our Youths and Juniors meet regularly on Sunday mornings for youth coaching, and are welcome to join in the Sunday races.
Many of our younger sailors join the RYA Zone Squads and Development Squads and take part (and win) National events.
You can make sailing what you want it to be – relaxing or high-adrenaline, sociable or secluded, on sheltered inland waters or on the open sea. Sailing is one of the most rewarding, healthy, outdoor activities you can take part in.
Sailing teaches youngsters self-reliance, inspires confidence and sociability. Sailing offers families the opportunity to have fun together, or to grab single-handed escapism from time to time!
On-Board is ideally suited to school groups and teaches children to sail over 4 sessions, while our Taster sessions are for young and old, and give an experience of sailing.
