Scott Of The Antarctic
There is in this book the best by far, biography of Scott. The author (who has written numerous books) has made good use of access to Scott's diaries and letters. The facts quoted are essential to the study of the man and not inconsequential. It is what to leave out in a biography that makes it good and Huxley got it right. There is in the rear of this book, biographical notes on the key players in Scott's expedition. The book is worth having just for that alone- it is simply a superb thumbnail sketch. Published by Weinfield and Nicholas in 1977 and by Atheneum (USA) in 1978. Pan books issued a paperback in 1979.
